We finally visited the Great Wolf Lodge this past weekend. Many of you have already been there, so you know what it is like. But for those that haven't, how is it? Would I recommend it?
Yes and no.
It is one of those experiences that you do once, but that is it. I don't think we'd ever go back.
First, the good parts:
- Family: It is always fun when you go places with Blaire and Preston. We loved being together and it was a nice two-day vacation.
- Friends: We went with our friends. That only helps the situation, we had a blast with them and Preston loved being with his buddy.
- Howlin' Tornado: A great slide! This is awesome, too bad all the other slides stink.
- Themeing: It was actually better than I expected. Clearly nothing near Disney, or even Universal, but better than expected.
- Rooms: They were big, clean and nice. Good stuff.
- Northern Lights Arcade: Who doesn't love an arcade? It was cool. They even have 'Deal or No Deal'.
Now, the bad parts:
- Price: Way too expensive for what you get, just too high. That would still be true if we got the State Farm discount I was hoping for.
- Repeatability: Not much to go back for. But, if your kids are older, MagiQuest helps this cause, that is pretty cool.
- Food: Really not that good. Not that good.
- Lifeguards: They were good, but need some consistency. One day the rules were relaxed, the next day strict, confusing.
- Noise: It is just too loud in that place.
So all in all, we had a fun time. It was a great trip and Chubbs had a blast. He loves that water so much. He loved the slides, the wave pool, and just splashing the water with his hands. We loved playing with him.
