Cross U

We have this great program at WDW called Cross U (cross utilization). Basically, two times a year during our peak periods - Christmas and Easter - the parks ask all other divisions to have their people volunteer for a day to help out at the parks. It is usually simple work. Very repetitive tasks like picking up garbage, filling sodas, etc.

I was so excited to do it for my first time this last Easter. I signed up to work at the Magic Kingdom and was assigned to Ray's Starlight Cafe in Tomorrowland. I was tasked to help refill the condiments bar. It was happy about it. If you've ever been there, this bar is huge, on steroids. They have everything from ketchup, to fried onions, to lettuce, to tomatoes. Although, my excitement quickly subsided because there simply wasn't a need for me. They were way overstaffed.

So after what I felt was a waste of a few hours, I asked to be repurposed so I can add more "value" to the operation. They obliged and for the rest of the day I worked at an outdoor ice cream cart. It was awesome!

It was me and another cast member in Town Square serving up delicious Mickey Bars, Dibs, chocolate covered frozen bananas, and of course, Kadoozies. I had a blast. It was so great to interact with the guests, be out in the MK on a beautiful day, see the 3 pm parade, and see how quickly we could get guests through the line.

Although my hand was frozen red at the end, I had a great time and we pulled in a LOT of $$ for ol' Walt.

I would call the day a "success".
